Playing full-back I notice if I make a mistake e.g. dropping the ball or running when i should kick or vice-versa it preys on me for the rest of the game. I then lose concentration and make a fair few other mistakes. Are there any techniques to help me put mistakes to the back of my mind and block out any criticism shouted towards me when I do so it doesn’t not affect my entire game?
Rugby, while it has its moments of individual brilliance and often individual blunders, is a game of consistency and not a game of perfection. There is not a rugby player around who has not made mistakes and there never will be. The great thing is the game is played over two halves and over eighty minutes meaning that more often than not there is ample opportunity to make up for a mistake made over the course of a whole game. Great players that fit into the category of both brilliance and blunders include the likes of All Black Allan Hewson, Wallaby great David Campese and Springbok living legend Percy Montgomery all of whom were noted for mistakes and yet all of whom could and did win many games for their teams.
As your coach I would say to you to remember that every opportunity in the game is independent of any other. Concentrate on them one at a time as they come and don’t dwell on them when they have gone. Every opportunity is a means of building overall consitency.

This is for the first reply, there is no such thing is ADD. This dx is no longer given out, since around the early 90’s.. It is now ADHD with a specific subtype. But just because you can not focus does not mean you have ADHD.. You have to have 6 out of 9 criteria to be dx with it.
There could be many things; such as distractions around you, the material, the way you are studing, or even nutritional imablances. If you are in college, many places have counselors that specialize in study skills that you can go and see..
