I’ve always had those memory loss moments where your like at the fridge and you have no idea why but it was important, or trying to remember what you were just watching, & worst when you had a third thing but forgot what it was in a Yahoo Answers Question. I’ve looked for ways but I’m just wondering if anyone has some good ideas. Natural things like fish oil or mental exercises are good (Sites are great too Please and thank you very much those who helped!

You already know about eating fish (or at least taking fish oil supplements). Make sure to take a multivitamin too, and eat greens.

For short term memory look into Dual N-Back ( http://brainworkshop.sourceforge.net/ ). It’s a completely free software that is just awesome. The website explains how it works.

For longer term memory and attention improvement look into GMS ( http://imastermemory.com/ ). It’s a mnemonic system. They have a paid course (expensive), but also have a free manual you can read that is pretty good.

Also, look into meditation. I really like the "Quantum Touch" techniques, I’m not too fond of the "just blank out your mind" method of meditating. You don’t have to believe that they work for healing, you can just use them for relaxing. Most memory problems are actually the product of lack of attention, not an actual memory problem.

It was just a few months ago when I experienced what some might call a “senior moment”. I was in a conversation and, all of a sudden, I had a thought I wanted to get out, but couldn’t think of the word I needed to express it. I knew exactly what I wanted to say, but the specific word I was looking for just wouldn’t come.

Moments like this are not necessarily tied to age and have happened to anyone who has forgotten a name, misplaced their car keys, or found themselves tongue tied in a conversation. They just seem to occur more frequently as we get older and our brains lose vitality.

However, there are ways to ensure that your brain continues to operate at a peak performance level, even as we age. The key is to energize the cells of the brain by supplying it with a steady diet of brain essential fatty acids and ensuring that blood sugar levels remain consistent.

There are many supplements that have been designed to provide brain-rich chemical combinations, but it all starts with a healthy diet. There are many foods that provide brain essential nutrients, but six key staples excel in their ability to keep our brains young and sharp.

Berries

Berries of all types, but especially blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, cranberries, and strawberries, provide high levels of brain essential omega-3 fatty acids. A study at Tufts University showed that rats, when fed a diet that included blueberries, raspberries, strawberries, and vitamin E, tested at a superior level for balance, memory, and speed while navigating a maze.

Fresh berries are best, but frozen will do in the off-season.

Fish

Cold water fish are rich in omega-3 fatty acids. Salmon, herring, mackerel, sardines, and tuna all contain high levels of the brain essential omegas. Wild, deep water fish are best as they typically avoid heavy exposure to mercury, dioxin, and the other toxins and bacteria that permeate shallower waters.

Eggs

Eggs get a bad rap for their relatively high levels of cholesterol, but they actually provide multiple nutrients critical in the maintenance of healthy brain tissue. Eggs are rich in lecithin, a critical building block for brain membranes, and a natural emulsifier of cholesterol and fats.

Eggs are also contain high concentrations of lipids, serine, inositol, and the brain essential amino acids tryptophan and tyrosine. All are critical components in maintaining mental clarity, memory, and other brain functions.

Spinach

Spinach, especially when served fresh and raw, protects healthy brain cells and rejuvenates old and damaged ones. The green leaves contain high levels of the B vitamin folic acid which is a powerful neuro booster. Studies have shown that diets rich in folic acid prevent the onset of Alzheimer’s and other mentally degenerative diseases.

Spinach also contains high levels chlorophyll, lutein, and flavonoids. Flavonoids are especially valuable for the long lasting antioxidant protection they provide.

Other green vegetables that feed the brain include kale, broccoli, basil, arugula, kelp, and cilantro.

Beans

Beans are at the top of the brain-essential food chain. The dark beans (black, red, and kidney), provide a healthy supply of low glycemic carbs, brain essential amino acids, and high concentrations of antiaging antioxidants.

Walnuts

A handful of walnuts provides over 3g of healthy omega-3s. They contain an optimal balance of the omega-6 and omega-3 fatty acids, ensuring that the maximum benefits from both are obtained.

Walnuts are best acquired while still in the shell to preserve the valuable oils inside. They make an excellent snack between meals and assist in stimulating healthy brain activity throughout the day.

Peanuts, hazelnuts, pecans, and almonds are also excellent sources of antioxidants.

A fine tuned brain is a critical component of any healthy lifestyle. It all starts with a diet rich in brain boosting vitamins and nutrients that will keep you sharp and focused. You can live younger if you include them in your daily eating habits.

Alzheimer disease progresses in stages, gradually destroying memory, reason, judgment, language and eventually the ability to carry out even simple tasks. In the end stages of the disease, patients become completely disoriented and must rely on caregivers for even their most basic needs. People with Alzheimer lose their cognitive ability as their brain cells are attacked and destroyed by a build-up of proteins in the brain. While scientists donâ??t know what triggers this build-up, they have identified two proteins that contribute to Alzheimer.

Exercise, exercise, and more exercise. On a regular basis (3-4 times per week), it keeps oxygen and blood flow going to the brain. It also increases the number of connections among millions of brain cells needed for mental function. In addition, it raises serotonin levels, which play a vital role as a neurotransmitter in moderating anger, aggression, body temperature, sleep, sexuality, appetite, and metabolism. So, basically your entire body and mind functions rely on this.

There are a number of other things, as well, that you can do to help prevent the onset of Alzheimer. Many of these prevention techniques involve limbering the mind and working on memory skills long before Alzheimer onset is a danger. Just having a mentally stimulating job that involves creative thinking or manipulation of data is shown to have a connection to lower incidence of Alzheimer later in life. Doing crossword puzzles and playing card games were found to have a significant positive impact on later mental dexterity. Employ memorization techniques used by actors. Actors donâ??t merely memorize a series of words.

Your brain needs glucose to keep the nerve cells functioning and to maintain a steady production of brain hormones. Glucose is derived from carbohydrates. So a diet rich in vitamin B nutrients such as whole grains will nourish your brain. In addition to whole grains eat fruits and vegetables that are high in antioxidants such as blueberries, spinach and kale. Antioxidants nourish brain cells and prevent free radicals from injuring the brain.

Increasing and persistent forgetfulness: In the beginning of Alzheimer disease a person may experience periods of forgetfulness, especially of recent events or simple directions. This forgetfulness persists and worsens. People with Alzheimer disease routinely misplace things, often putting them in strange or â??illogicalâ? places. They frequently forget names, and may even eventually forget the names of family members and everyday objects.

Eat Healthy. Eating fruits and vegetables wonâ??t just help with maintaining a slim figure but will also help reduce the chances of getting Alzheimer. Foods that are low in cholesterol, saturated fat, salt and sugar but high in dietary fiber will give you the best odds against this disease. Whole wheat bread, past, rice are great, as well as fruits and vegetables with vitamin E (blueberries, cranberries, grapes) and green leafy vegetables (spinach, broccoli).

Menopause is a tough transition for many women. It usually begins to occur in late middle age when the efficiency of the ovaries begins to decline. Problems associated with the related estrogen deficiency that occur may include arteriosclerosis, osteoporosis, decreased skin elasticity and changes in the sympathetic nervous system that result in â??hot flashes.â?Â However, by including the following superfoods in your everyday diet, symptoms can be alleviated, memory power maintained, and osteoporosis prevented.Â

Tofu is an excellent protein alternative for meat and it can be very helpful in lowering your cholesterol and preventing heart disease. Tofu and other soy products may also help lessen the side effects of menopause, such as hot flashes.Â

Recent studies have shown that fiber can help reduce your risk of colon and other types of cancer, as well as diverticulosis. Women need approximately 30 grams of fiber each day. Navy beans come in at 19 grams, so theyâ??re a wonderful choice. Use them in your chili or soups, or try them for a nutritious side dish instead of the usual pasta or rice.      Â

As we grow older, we may find that our memory begins to slip a bit, and we find ourselves forgetting things. By eating blueberries, we might actually be able to curb that short-term memory loss. Toss them on top of some plain yogurt for a great breakfast or snack choice. Yogurt, which is loaded with calcium, can help prevent osteoporosis. As an added bonus, it can help strengthen your immunity and support your weight loss efforts. Choose yogurts that contain high amounts of good bacteria such as acidophilus, which can also help prevent yeast and urinary tract infections. Â

Avocados are high in antioxidants such as vitamin E, which is important element to protecting both your vision and skin. They also contain monosaturated fats, which have been shown to improve the condition of hair and skin, which can suffer when a woman goes through menopause. Chunk up a nice ripe avocado for a delicious guacamole dip, or even try them on your sandwich with a tomato.Â

Try also to avoid drinking a large amount of caffeinated drinks each day, and boost your bodyâ??s vitamin C absorption by teaming an orange with an iron-rich food like whole-grain oatmeal.

But if I study with or under anyone’s supervision I am very disciplined. Could you suggest some tips to study immediately?

Note: I usually do my writing work while listening songs.

"Describe how sampling techniques is/has been applied while working safely in science/chemistry laboratory. You may make reference to using samples determine the concentration of unknown solutions, melting point determination of substances etc"

What does it mean - HOW they have been applied, please?

I think they are saying that, in the past, how have people safely taken samples?

How do you safely take a sample of an unknown solution? What equipment should be work (safety goggles, gloves, etc) and how do you treat the solution? If you have an unknown solution, you should always treat it like an acid, just to be safe.

Make sense?

If you can, cite your sources
Children who are read to develp better attention spans. Children, teens, and adults make better grades, learn and retain a lot more about language, which gives them thousands of ways of expressing themselves and ideas. They also make better grades, due to improved memory and a better attention span in class. It is not known whether reading has such benefits in middle age and the elderly, although it does improve attention span and short-term memory to an extent.
I tried to get you a few cites but my computer won’t let me!! Try reading and memory or reading and intelligence on the web.

Good luck to you!!
